MUM: Edinson is in Man City talks; DAD: My lad wants to join Madrid!

Manchester City and Real Madrid have opened talks over Edinson Cavani — the striker’s MUM last night revealed.

But City’s hopes of sealing a deal for the £54million goal machine took a dent when the star’s DAD claimed he will pick Real.

Cavani, 26, who was top scorer in Serie A last term with 29 goals, is one of European football’s hottest properties.
Chelsea were also linked to the Uruguay international but only City and Real have tabled firm bids.

Cavani’s mother Berta Gomez told a Montevideo radio station: “Edi is in talks with Manchester City and Real Madrid.

“Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis has spoken about the possibility of discussions with Chelsea but there is nothing definite with them at the moment.

“We will know more in 15 to 20 days. There are so many voices, and when something happens I will be the first to know.

“But Edi loves Napoli and, if he has to leave, he will never forget the love and warmth he has had from the fans. He and Naples will remain united for ever.”

But his dad Luis Cavani added: “His intention is to play for Madrid.

“He is excited about it and is very willing to see it through.

“He has told the family in private that he wants to join Real Madrid but if he declares it publicly it will annoy Napoli.

“I hope it happens and that talks take place as soon as possible. Who wouldn’t want to play for Real Madrid?”

Man City Goes All Out with Real Madrid Over Edinson Cavani

MANCHESTER CITY are in a straight scrap with Real Madrid for the signature of £60million striker Edinson Cavani.

Chelsea have pulled out of the bidding for the Napoli superstar after discovering the total cost of a five-year-deal would be a staggering £100m — including £8m-a-year in wages for the Uruguayan ace.

And Cavani, 26, is said to be ‘lukewarm’ on a move to new French champions Paris Saint-Germain, even though the Qatari-backed club have the cash to seal such a mega deal.

All this leaves City and the Spanish giants to slug it out for goal-machine Cavani, who hit an astonishing 36 goals in 41 appearances for his Serie A side this season.

City chiefs hope Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko will be the key to completing the swoop.

They have held talks with the Italians over a swap deal, which would keep down the fee, and also take an existing big-money earner off the payroll.

But the fear at City is the glamour and appeal of joining Real Madrid, the world’s most famous and successful club, could yet sway Cavani’s final decision.
