Manuel
Pellegrini has been appointed the new
Manchester City manager.
The club announced the Chilean, 59, will take
over from Roberto Mancini at the Etihad Stadium after leaving Malaga.
City sacked Mancini towards the end of last
season despite guiding the club to Premier League glory in 2011-12.
Pellegrini, who has also managed Real Madrid and
Villarreal, brought the curtain down on his Malaga reign with a 4-1 defeat to
Barcelona in the final match of the season on Saturday.
A centre-back as a player, he made 451
appearances for the only club he played for — Universidad de Chile.
He won 28 caps for his national side before
taking over as manager at Universidad in 1987.
Former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster has taken
the reins at Malaga.
